Face à la guerre du Karabagh (du 27 septembre au 9 novembre 2020), initiée par l’Azerbaïdjan contre la population arménienne, on n’a pas beaucoup entendu la voix de démocrates turcs, pour la plupart emprisonnés, censurés ou exilés. Cengiz Aktar, ancien haut fonctionnaire aux Nations-Unies, professeur invité à l’Université d’Athènes, a publié, au moment du conflit, « Le malaise turc » un pamphlet d’une centaine de pages, contre le régime d’Erdoğan, sultan républicain qui se rêve en calife. Il livre aujourd’hui une analyse sans concession de l’état actuel de son pays.

On August 11, 2020, Memorandum of understanding was signed between Armenian “China-Eurasia” Council for Political and Strategic research and the Shanghai Cooperation Organization’s Chinese Committee on Good Neighbourliness, Friendship and Cooperation (SCO GNFCC). According to the Memorandum of understanding, Parties agreed to cooperate with each other, to contribute to the development of Sino-Armenian relations, to promote dialogue between 2 ancient civilizations, to start and bust cooperation in academic, technological, informational, educational, cultural and other fields.

The head of  the “China-Eurasia” Council for Political and Strategic Research, Dr. Mher Sahakyan, was elected a member of the Advisory Board of the International Institute for Peace - IIP. Established in 1956 in Vienna, Austria this institution is making great contribution for the World peace and international security.

A 48-page Central Intelligence Agency Top Secret Report, prepared in August 1988 and made public in 2012 with some deletions, is titled “Unrest in the Caucasus and the Challenge of Nationalism.” Despite the passage of time, the Report includes an interesting analysis of the Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh) conflict from the perspective of U.S. intelligence services.

While the lawsuit filed by the Catholicosate of Cilicia based in Antelias, Lebanon, for the recovery of its former headquarters in Sis, Turkey, has received wide publicity, another just as important lawsuit against Turkey, is hardly known by the Armenian and international community.

The United Nations’ General Assembly held its annual session Sept. 24-30, 2019 in New York City. The participants were heads of states and high-ranking officials of UN member countries, including Armenia’s Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and Azerbaijan’s Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov. Surprisingly, Azerbaijan’s President Ilham Aliyev was absent -- a big mistake on his part!

"They’re defining a weapon that is unsupervised or independent from human direction, unsupervised in its battlefield operations, and self-targeting [i.e. chooses its own targets],” Work said. “The weapon doesn’t exist! It might not even be technically feasible, and if it is technically feasible, there’s absolutely no evidence that a western army, certainly the United States, would employ such a weapon.”
“In the meantime,” Work went on angrily, “they’re willing to say, ‘I’m willing to sacrifice the lives of American servicemen and women, I’m willing to take more civilian casualties, and I’m willing to take more collateral damage, on the off chance that sometime in the future this weapon will exist.

July 12, 2019, Yerevan, Armenia- “China-Eurasia” Council for Political and Strategic Research, Russian-Armenian University (RAU)  and “Europe Goes Silk Road” jointly organized academic Seminar “Europe Goes Silk Road through Armenia”. Academic seminar was hosted by the RAU.  

The 2018 “Velvet Revolution” in Armenia raised hopes for a long-lasting peace in the ongoing Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, but sticking points remain. The “Velvet Revolution” of the April – May 2018 marked the end of the approximately thirty year-long rule of the so called “military generation” in Armenia – those who came into power in Armenia during or as a result of participation in the bloody Nagorno-Karabakh conflict of 1991-1994 in the South Caucasus.

The US government recently created a new and unnecessary controversy, this time with the Republic of Armenia. It all started when the Armenian government decided to send a non-combat humanitarian squad of 83 doctors, sappers, and other servicemen to Syria to provide assistance to the important, but dwindling Armenian community in Aleppo. Armenia had previously sent four airlifts of humanitarian assistance to the Syrian people.
